Mark of Excellence

The Mark of Excellence project, an initiative of The Foundation for Music Education, seeks to recognize and award outstanding achievement in performance by high school and middle school bands, choirs and orchestras. Over 275 schools from across the nation entered this prestigious competition in hopes of being named one of the commended or national winners. Groups that enter the contest receive immeasurable feedback from the judges who are selected from among the finest music educators in the country. Judges for this year were Mark Camphouse, Eugene Corporon, Anthony Maiello and Thomas Fraschillo. The top 25% of entrants are recognized as National Winners, with the second 25% named as Commended Winners.

The Oliveira Middle School Band has had a long standing tradition of excellence dating back to the first year of the school’s existence. For the 2nd time consecutively in school history, the Oliveira Middle School Band is the recipient of the National Winner Award from The Foundation of Music Education! By accomplishing this amazing task, they have earned themselves the honor of being named one of the elite middle school
